Winterbourne Stoke Barrows - Grave Goods

Objects were frequently placed with the remains. These grave goods often included bronze daggers and battle-axes for men. Women's graves might contain beads and other ornaments. We believe that they indicate the status of the dead.

Most prehistoric tombs in the Stonehenge landscape were excavated in the 19th century. Many of the objects found can be seen in the Devizes and Salisbury Museums.
