Armed and Ready

Date

Sun 27 - Mon 28 Aug 2017

Time

11am-5pm

Location

Beeston Castle and Woodland Park

Suitable For

Everyone

A person, dressed in Medieval costume, surrounded by pots and tools by an open iron stove.

Calling all Roundheads and Cavaliers! Take in the sights and sounds of the 17th century, as Beeston Castle transforms into an atmospheric Civil War encampment. Throughout the day, visit soldiers as they prepare for battle in the castle grounds – and find out about their daily routines, clothing and tales from the front line.

Don't miss our weapon demonstrations, as the Garrison load and fire muskets and show off their skills to the crowd. And if you're feeling adventurous, prepare to attack the castle yourself by moving through the treacherous siege maze.

If pike drills sound too perilous, the tavern tent awaits with authentic recipes and games of the period. You can also join the expert apothecary and learn about nature's remarkable remedies.

There is plenty to do for little soldiers too - they can train with our sword school and learn the essential skills of sword fighting in our fun sessions.
