1066 Battle of Hastings, Abbey and Battlefield
Following the Battle of Hastings event, the battlefield will remain temporarily out of bounds while we get ready for half term but will fully re-open on Thursday 22nd October. For more details of our fantastic events please click here for more details.
Re-live the atmosphere and tension, as over 600 soldiers clash in the infamous Battle of Hastings re-enactment. With a full festival atmosphere and activities and displays to keep you awestruck all weekend, we’re bringing the story of 1066 to life.
Set foot in the Norman and Saxon encampments and learn about life in an 11th century army. Meet falconers and their majestic birds of prey, try your hand at archery and watch superb displays of cavalry horsemanship. Muster your kids and have fun in a kid’s battle, meet noted authors or pick up a special souvenir from medieval traders, perhaps even try a horn of mead.
The Battle of Hastings is our most popular event of the year, and tickets can sell out fast. We strongly recommend pre-booking to avoid disappointment. Buy your tickets now for fast track entry. This year we have also introduced a weekend ticket, so you can now benefit from a 20% discount on the standard day price if you buy a ticket for both days.
To cut down on queue time and ease traffic congestion in Battle town, if possible please travel to the event by train. Battle Train station is only a short walk from the Abbey. Please note that a replacement bus service is in operation between Tonbridge and Wadhurst. If you can, please drive to Robertsbridge, Etchingham, Stonegate or Wadhurst and catch the train from there.
The Battle Abbey car park will only be available to blue badge holders from 14-15 October. During this time, all other vehicles should follow AA signs to the event field parking via Powdermill Lane.
