Belsay Hall, Castle and Gardens
Make the most of the winter evenings with family and friends this Christmas time as you explore the grounds of Belsay Hall after dark. Wrap up warm and head out on an adventure through a topsy-turvy wonderland of light, colour and sound.
Follow an enchanting garden trail, stumbling upon bookcases, old armchairs, dolls houses and a croquet lawn tea party as you go. Step inside the quarry garden to find an Aladdin's cave as the long lost furniture from the Hall has reappeared, reclaimed by nature.
Keep your eye out for an illuminated chandelier and have a camera at hand to capture a constellation of mirror balls. Then take time out on a bench beside artist Kirsten Reynolds' 'Ex Memoria' installation of vintage lamps.
And the delight doesn't stop there - at the castle find a fairground with traditional rides and games. If you're feeling peckish after your enchanted adventure there'll be a BBQ and food stalls serving sweet treats and festive drinks. You won't be able to resist toasting a marshmallow or two whilst admiring the view of the castle, lit with rainbow light.
A free shuttle bus service will run from Ponteland middle school for this event as parking on site is reserved on a pre-bookable basis for blue badge holders.
