Grand Medieval Joust at Kenilworth Castle

Sat 23 & Sun 24 Jun 2018

Kenilworth Castle

Suitable For

Knight on horseback

Be transported back in time this summer as brave medieval knights set up camp in the castle grounds. Budding lords and ladies of every age can experience the sights, smells and entertainments of medieval England as the castle is brought to life.

Experience a true contest of heroes as four knights go head to head in battle. Mounted on horseback and armed with a lance, the warriors will fight to prove their power and chivalrous skills. There is also a chance to meet the knights and discover the secrets of their armour, as they are dressed in preparation for combat by their squires.

As well as discovering the thrills and spills of an authentic joust, make merry with a feast of medieval entertainments and treats. Learn about the weaponry of the time, and the impact of the fearsome medieval longbow! Enjoy the 'sport of kings' within the castle grounds, as Raphael Historic Falconry show off their birds of prey. The birds will take to the air in outstanding displays - a skill that many monarchs would have mastered as part of their hunting trips.

Throughout the day, children can take part in junior jousting, melee and have-a-go archery. Listen to medieval music, marvel at the mischievous jester, and enjoy a range of displays within our living history encampments. A great day out for all the family!
