Get into the 'swing' of it with period Christmas music as costumed characters bring this party palace to life for Christmas as millionaire couple Stephen and Virginia Courtauld await their famous guests.
11:00 What is a Man To Wear? - It may be Christmas but in High Society there are rules to follow even at parties. A gentleman must dress according to strict rules; discover the rights and wrongs of formal dressing. Black Tie, White Tie, which tie? Located in the Italian Drawing Room.
11:30 Laying the Table – Learn from Eagle, the Butler, how to set the table for tonight’s dinner and find out what’s on the menu. Could you be his Under Butler? In the Dining Room.
12:00 Dance Class - Come cut a rug and learn some of the dances you need to know for the party in the Great Hall. Followed by social dancing; we will provide the music, you make the shapes.
13:30 Games – No Christmas is complete without a few family games. What hilarious games will they choose? Find us in the Italian Drawing Room.
14:00 Laying the Table – A second chance to learn the ins and outs of laying the table, for dinner at Eltham.
15.00 The Courtauld’s will not be at Eltham for Christmas but even so, they have a Christmas tree to be decorated and paper chains to make. Come and help them make the palace festive.
15:30 Dance Class. Come cut a rug and learn some of the dances you need to know for the party in the Great Hall.
