Berwick-upon-Tweed Barracks and Main Guard
The Redcoats have returned to Berwick Barracks in Northumberland this weekend for a spectacular display of military prowess! See first-hand how the Barracks would have operated at the time it was occupied by the Kings Own Scottish Borderers Regiment.
Watch as the Redcoat Soldiers take part in military drills, including live Musket fire, and get up close with authentic weapons and tools used at the time. Potential soldiers can also see if they've got what it takes to be a Redcoat in our children's drills!
Living History displays open
Visit our Redcoat Living History displays outside in the Barracks Square and upstairs in C Block*.
Redcoat Drill and Musketry
Watch as our resident Redcoat soldiers perform drills on the Parade ground and witness the firepower of the Muskets!
Calling all aspiring soldiers! Do you have what it takes to become a Redcoat Soldier? Come and test your skills in our children's drill session!
'The New Recruit' - joining the Georgian Army
Witness a new recruit being sworn into the regiment garrisoned within the barracks, and given his enlistment papers.
The King's Own Scottish Borderers Museum
Spend some time visiting this museum, which contains archives of the regiment from over the years.
*Please note - access to the Living History area inside the C-Block building is only accessible via several stairs.

What better place to start your training in a real life barracks?! Join the drill this May half term, march and train like a redcoat and see what life was like for the Kings own Scottish Borderers.
