The extensive remains of an Augustinian abbey, including its abbots' quarters, refectory and cloister.

The substantially surviving chapter house has a frontage richly bedecked with 12th and 14th century carving and statuary, and a fine timber roof of around 1500.

Pictorial interpretation boards guide the visitor, and an introductory exhibition displays archaeological finds.

Picnic area and light refreshments available.

Don't Miss

  • Children’s activities. Have fun with our traditional garden games this summer. Choose from skittles, quoits or giant pick-up sticks and don’t worry if you’re not sure of the rules - we have crib sheets to help you. If you’re feeling crafty, you can join us in the museum to create your own stained glass window, using stencils inspired by the windows within Haughmond’s ruins. Activities running each weekend between 26 July - 31 August. Call the site for further details.
