Site Closure - Saturday 25 October
We’re really sorry, but due to a consistent forecast of high winds on the clifftop above the safe operating level for the site - Illuminated Whitby Abbey will not go ahead on Saturday 25 October. Whitby Abbey will also be closed all day Saturday 25 October. The forecast is better for the evening of Friday 24 October and the event will go ahead as planned and is open today. Tickets are still available. If you’ve pre-booked tickets for Saturday 25 October, these will be automatically refunded within 10 working days. We apologise for any disappointment this may cause.
Prices and Opening Times for Whitby Abbey
Advance booking
You can book online until midnight the day before your visit to get the discount. You can still buy a ticket on the day of your visit online or when you arrive, but you’ll pay full price.
Tickets are valid all day, so you can arrive at any time and stay for as long as you like within our opening hours.
Tickets are free for members. You can still book online if you’d like – just remember to bring your English Heritage membership card.
You can join as a member online or during your visit.
