Birdoswald Roman Fort is the perfect place to stop for a family day out or if you're walking or cycling along Hadrian's Wall in Cumbria. Extensive remains of the Roman Fort can be explored and the longest continuous remaining stretch of this magnificent World Heritage Site can be seen here.
The visitor centre has interesting interactive displays and artefacts as well as a model representation of the Wall at its full height. Meet Bellicus the Travelling Roman Potter

Local master potter Graham Taylor recreates the life of the travelling craftsman from Roman Britain. He will be travelling along the wall seeking out the forthcoming Roman army. There are opportunities for hands on fun for all junior potters too.
