There's a fairytale quality to Bolsover Castle that makes it a firm favourite with anyone looking for a great value day out in the East Midlands. Highlights include the sumptuously painted walls and ceilings of the Little Castle, intricately carved fireplaces and the magnificent indoor Riding House.
During Winter 2013/14 Bolsover Castle will be undergoing an exciting project of building, furnishing and interpretation. From Spring 2014, for the first time in almost 400 years, visitors will be able to stroll along Bolsover Castle's newly restored wall walk.
With views of the Vale of Scarsdale one way, and the delightful fountain garden the other, visitors will feel as if they are walking in the footsteps of William Cavendish himself. Not only that, but the interiors of the Little Castle are being re-imagined and interpreted, a whole new exhibition is being created in the Stables, and a fantastically fun children's play area is being built! Read a news story about the project.
During the work, the fountain garden will be closed and areas of the little castle may be out of bounds. Please feel free to call the site on the day you plan to visit for an update. There will still be plenty to see and do for all the family, with extensive grounds to explore with lots of green space to let off steam. Our fabulous terrace range will be untouched throughout the works, and is a wonderful area to explore.
We look forward to welcoming you over this winter period as the project takes shape.
