The Philanthropy Executive is a new role within the Development Department, responsible for securing gifts at the £10,000 - £100,000 level in support of English Heritage's strategic objectives, including conservation, education and capital projects. This role also has responsibility for coordinating the campaign to match-fund the £1m HLF Heritage Endowment supporting English Heritage free sites, which runs until August 2021.
We are a new charity with big targets and some of the world's best-known heritage sites in our care, so we can offer you a varied and rewarding role and the opportunity to really grow your career as a major gifts fundraiser.
English Heritage tells the stories of England through the 420 sites and 500,000 paintings and artefacts in our care. From Stonehenge to Hadrian's Wall, Dover Castle to Iron Bridge, our sites span some six millennia and are visited by more than 10 million people each year. We need you to join us and help deliver what will be one of the most ambitious fundraising initiatives ever undertaken by a heritage organisation in the UK.
To be successful in this role you must have outstanding relationship management skills and experience of making face to face asks at the four or five figure level. You are tenacious, target-driven, and possess the credibility and confidence to influence at the highest level. It is likely that you already have experience of managing a fundraising project, coordinating activity from others to achieve a shared goal. You will also enjoy working closely with a diverse group of colleagues within a complex and multi-site organisation. It goes without saying that a passion for history and heritage is an absolute must!
English Heritage offers a broad benefits package which includes a generous pension scheme and 25 days annual leave, alongside the opportunity to take advantage of well-being benefits and discounts, which include free access to all English Heritage sites.
