Toilets: toilets including adapted WC in visitor centre.

Food & Drink

Café: fully accessible serving light lunches, refreshments and homemade cakes, all sourced from local Sussex and Kent producers.

The Cafe will be open daily 10am to 3pm until the 9th January.

Shop

Visit the well stocked High Street shop with locally sourced products and English Heritage souvenirs.

Parking

75m from abbey entrance. Wheelchair users should enter the site through the gatehouse (please ring the bell), where they will be met by a member of staff .

Access

 

Access to buildings: new visitor centre fully accessible for all. Steps to enter all abbey buildings and ruins. Access around site via gravel pathways avoiding steps and often on slopes.

Suggested route for visitors with limited mobility in guide book and site leaflet.

Battlefield: very rough natural ground but may be viewed from Lower Terrace.

Shop: Wheelchair access via shop exit door only.

Visually Impaired Visitors

Audio tour included in admission price. One-mile country walk around battlefield and lakes recommended. Access to gatehouse exhibition via steep steps. N.B. Crypt area has substantial drop; visually impaired visitors must be accompanied. Braille guide in English only.

Hearing Impaired Visitors

Audio tour with hearing loop included in admission price. 1066: the Battle for England exhibition includes film with subtitles. Interactive audio tour available in English including children's version, French, German, Dutch, Spanish and Japanese.

Learning

Basic language audio tour included in admission price.

Parking charge payable; toilets located in the visitor centre; dogs on leads only (in restricted areas).
