Family Day Out
Come and play by the most famous stones in the world. What better way for kids to step into England's story than exploring a World Heritage Site and its prehistoric monuments?
Our exhibition and visitor centre will entertain the most inquisitive of minds and there is plenty of outdoor space to work off extra energy, run and picnic.
Kids are welcome to play and discover at Stonehenge.
Get hands-on indoors
Our displays in the exhibition area are at a low-level so everyone can see, hear, play and touch. Enjoy audio-visual displays, pick up and touch tactile objects and replica artefacts. Many of these objects are on loan from Salisbury Museum and Wiltshire Museum in Devizes who also offer a fantastic family day out.
For more hands-on fun, pick up a Children's Activity Pack (£2.99) from the shop, to use during your visit, or to keep everyone entertained on the journey home.
Let off steam in the wide open landscape and see just how huge the Stones really are. You can hear all about the Stones with a family audio tour.
Take a ride on the free shuttle bus to the Stones, or rest weary little legs on the way back.
Explore our reconstructed Neolithic Houses and imagine what life would have been like for a Neolithic family.

Stonehenge Community Loan Box
If you know a group who would be interested in handling replica Neolithic and Bronze Age objects from Stonehenge then we have the perfect resource for you! Stonehenge's Community Loan Box is filled with 16 interesting objects offering handlers the opportunity to glean information about the mysteries of Stonehenge and its builders. The box comes with two magnifying glasses, a cue card for each object and a guide which comprises optional activities and an introductory talk.
Loan box sessions may either be led by group leaders or a volunteer can come from Stonehenge to your group during your normal meet-up time (depending on availability). The session with or without a Stonehenge volunteer is free of charge. The box may be borrowed for up to two weeks at a time and must be collected and returned by the group leader if you would like a session without a volunteer, with a deposit for the box of £10 being required to ensure safekeeping. We welcome groups who may find it difficult to visit Stonehenge to borrow the box. If you interested please download the Community Box booking form.
