These two Cartier brooches belonged to Virginia Courtauld, a gift from her husband, Stephen around 1936–7 when they were living at Eltham. They give us unique insight into the Courtauld’s personality and the way they combined history and modernity both in the renovations at Eltham and in their personal items.
