Notes

John Logie Baird also has a blue plaque at the building where he invented and demonstrated the first working television, at 22 Frith Street, Soho.

Engineer and inventor John Logie Baird moved to 3 Crescent Wood Road, Upper Sydenham, in 1933 when his company relocated to the Crystal Palace nearby.

Baird’s wife, Margaret, a concert pianist, described the detached mid-19th-century house as ‘vast’, and the space enabled Baird to have a private laboratory to continue his experiments. He had previously worked in rented attic rooms at 22 Frith Street, Soho, where he first demonstrated a working television.
