July 2025 marks the 450th Anniversary of the visit of Queen Elizabeth I to Robert Dudley at Kenilworth Castle, and a host of events are being planned by Kenilworth Council and English Heritage to commemorate the event.

Get Creative – A Children’s Art Day at the Castle, is being held as part of the celebrations. Young artists of all ages and abilities, accompanied by an adult if under 16, are invited to visit the castle and paint or create in the open air, alongside local artists who will be being creative themselves. The artists will engage with, and encourage, younger visitors whilst working on their own piece of art.

Drawing inspiration from the glorious castle surroundings, this is a fantastic opportunity for budding artists to be creative in the grounds of one of the most important historic buildings in Warwickshire.

Young people are encouraged to bring their own materials – eg paint, charcoal, coloured pencils, as well as paper and something to rest on, but don’t worry if you haven’t got anything, we will have some for you to use.

The castle will be open to from 10am until 4pm, so you can drop in any time, and there will be artists at the entrance to explain what to do.

There is a pop-up exhibition at the Talisman Theatre on 23rd and 24th August which will include work from the children’s day.
