One of the best and most accessible Roman villa survivals in Britain, Lullingstone’s vivid displays and interpretation give you a tantalising glimpse into Roman domestic life over three centuries.
See the villa come to life in a film and light show that illuminates excavated areas and reveals how they were once used.
This luxurious villa was begun in about AD 100 and developed by successive wealthy owners. Look out for the heated bath suite and an underground pagan ‘cult room’, where you’ll see a wall painting of water deities – by far the oldest painting in our care.
You can discover all this and more in the galleries overlooking the excavated remains. Modern children and adults can play Roman board games, handle original building materials and try on Roman costumes.
Lullingstone Roman Villa has been awarded a Silver Green Impact Award, click here to find out more about the awards.
