Millionaire’s Rare 1930s Cartier Jewellery Acquired by English Heritage
Two diamond-encrusted Cartier brooches belonging to millionaire Virginia Courtauld will go on display at Eltham Palace in London for the first time. The brooches were a gift from Virginia’s husband, Stephen, to mark the restoration of the Courtaulds new home in the 1930s.

Photographer John Thomson is recognised with a blue plaque. He lived at 15 Effra Road (then known as 12 Elgin Gardens) whilst creating one of his most influential works, Street Life in London and was resident there when he became a member of the Photographic Society.
