Priors Lodge is a two-bedroom holiday cottage that sleeps five people (the twin bedded room can accommodate a guest bed). Located in the grounds of English Heritage’s Mount Grace Priory, Priors Lodge holiday cottage consists of three buildings on different levels linked with internal staircases. Attached to a wall of the medieval guesthouse, the cottage overlooks the spectacular ruins of the Carthusian monastery. Built in the mid-18th Century from stones taken from the ruins, the interiors are full of pale timbers, a cast iron fireplace and mullioned windows offering fabulous views of the ruins and the Vale of York. With exclusive access to the grounds outside of public access hours, guests can explore the ruins and the renovated Arts and Crafts gardens on their own terms. Included in your booking is a luxury hamper, as well as entry to all English Heritage sites and most events, 10% off in our shops and cafés during your stay. So make sure to plan days out at nearby Rievaulx Abbey and Helmsley Castle. Discover Mount Grace Priory
Explore the ruins of the priory at your leisure, the last monastery to be built in Yorkshire before the Reformation and regarded as the best preserved and most accessible of the 10 Carthusian monasteries in England. The Manor House, was built from the ruins of the monks' guest house and was extended at the turn of the 20th century it is a showcase for the craftsmanship of the Arts and Craft movement with William Morris wallpaper and its furniture from this period. To the front of the property the terrace and its gardens are beautifully preserved and attract a huge variety of wildlife.Find out more
Fabulous place. The cottage had clearly been recently refurbished to a very high standard. There had obviously been a lot of thought put into the decorations and equipment. Wonderful to be able to wander around the site in the evening.
