Discover Dover Castle
The Sergeant Major's House stands in its own grounds within the castle's historic walls. This elegant and spacious four-storey Georgian building sleeps six, and is set in its own grounds just inside the Western Outer Curtain Wall. As its name suggests, it was once the home of the Regimental Sergeant Majors who were garrisoned in the castle.
Sited beneath imposing Great Tower this well presented house commands stunning views over the sea to France.Find out more
The cottage was beautifully clean and presented and we all enjoyed the special family break enormously.
The cottage was very comfortable and well equipped. The housekeeper was fabulous and very proactive - ringing me before I got around to calling her, checking what bread, milk, etc we'd prefer for our hamper of goodies - which was very welcome. We also found the Dog's Hamper a nice, unexpected touch - my Assistance Dog certainly enjoyed the treats,
The house and grounds were amazing, especially when everyone else had gone home, it made us feel Queens of our very own Castle!! In particular I would like to thank the housekeeper who not only made the house immaculate, but also went above and beyond and would happily answer the questions I bombarded her with !! In fact all the staff on the site were incredibly friendly and helpful and very passionate about the Castle and we can't wait to come back!
This was our first stay at an English Heritage holiday home and we were very impressed by everything about our stay. Dover Castle is a very special setting for a week's holiday and the Sergeant Major's House is a delight.
