Hatfield Earthworks (Marden Henge)
SUITABLE FORAdults
Discover the largest henge in Britain – Marden Henge in the Vale of Pewsey.
Lesser known than nearby Avebury or Durrington Walls, Marden Henge was a significant ceremonial gathering place from the end of the Neolithic. Originally containing a large mound similar to Silbury Hill, multiple ritual enclosures, and the best-preserved Neolithic house as well as sitting on the source of the River Avon, the site may have been key to understanding the movement of sarsen stones to Stonehenge. We will discover the hidden features of the site as we explore the deep Neolithic histories of Wiltshire.
This event has been graded as easy access, the area is mostly flat and easily accessible.
Bookings will open for this event on this page on Tuesday 13 October at 9am.
