Mark the anniversary of the Battle of Great Torrington which was one of the last battles of the Civil War of 1642-46. It is chiefly remembered today for the fact that Torrington Church (which was being used as a gunpowder store during the battle) blew up, killing royalists and roundheads alike and showering the combatants with debris.
This event is graded as challenging access, as it is a walking tour over uneven terrain covering up to 2 miles (3km) over 2 hours.
