Grime's Graves - Prehistoric Flint Mine
SUITABLE FOREveryone
Join experimental archaeologist Dr James Dilley to try your hand at the world's oldest craft: flintknapping.
This is a rare opportunity to be guided through this fascinating technology within the very Neolithic flint mines that were worked over 4000 years ago.
During the workshop, you will learn about the history of flint and stone tools before making some of your own to take home.
All PPE, flintknapping tools and flint will be provided. Please wear suitable clothing that you don’t mind getting dirty. Full-length trousers and closed-toe shoes are recommended.
This event is graded as moderate access. You will be working with tools that require your full attention.
Bookings will open on Wednesday 15 July at 9am.
