Cell Block Tour

DATE

Thu 28 May 2026

TIME

11am - 11.30am

LOCATION

Richmond Castle

SUITABLE FOR

Everyone

The cells at Richmond Castle are internationally famous for the graffiti record created by Conscientious Objectors during WWI. What is less well understood is the extraordinary range of graffiti, of subject matter and style written and drawn on the walls over the past 100 years and more.

This event will start with a talk about the history of the graffiti at the mayors Parlour Richmond Town Hall, followed by a rare opportunity to go inside the cell block at Richmond Castle with our expert guide and stand up close to this incredible archive.

This event is graded as moderate access, as parts of the tour will involve walking on uneven terrain and navigating some stairs.

Bookings for this event open on this page on Monday 20 April.
