English Heritage receives £2.5m donation for new Tintagel Castle footbridge
English Heritage has received a £2.5m donation from Julia and Hans Rausing towards the forthcoming footbridge at Tintagel Castle in Cornwall, the charity announced today (Tuesday 19 February). Opening in summer 2019, the new footbridge will help people to better understand the dramatic Cornish castle, improve access, and help to preserve and conserve Tintagel’s archaeology and ecology.

The newly donated gold-hued telephone will go on public display for the first time from tomorrow.

English Heritage introduces ‘hour of contemplation’ at its former monasteries
English Heritage is launching an ‘hour of contemplation’ at its monasteries in a month-long trial this autumn. From 22 September until 22 October 2021, English Heritage will be encouraging visitors to turn off notifications on their phones, finish up their conversations and enjoy the final hour of public access to its abbeys and priories in contemplative quiet, enabling them to experience these spiritual buildings as they were intended.
