Facilities at Hardwick Old Hall

  • Parking

    The car park is operated by the National Trust. The Hall is a short walk (approximately 5 mins) from the car park through the Stable Yard. Parking is free to English Heritage members and National Trust members. There is a charge for non-members (£3.00).
  • Food And Drink

    There is a restaurant in the Stable Yard managed by the National Trust. The Old Hall contains a vending machine serving hot and cold drinks, as well as a selection of ice creams.
  • Picnic Area

    Picnic tables are available in the grounds of the Old Hall.
  • Shop

    A small shop is located at the entrance to the visitor centre of the Old Hall and stocks a variety of gifts for people of all ages. Popular ranges include jams and preserves, books on Beth of Hardwick and the Elizabethan era, as well as a selection of tapestries.
  • Toilets

    Male and female toilets on site. A disabled toilet and baby-changing facilities are available in the Stable Yard.
  • Dogs

    Dogs on a lead allowed. Assistance dogs welcome.

  • Exhibition

    There are two exhibitions in the Old Hall visitor centre. On the ground floor there is a display about Beth of Hardwick and her importance in Elizabethan history, as well as the plasterwork and the decoration which would have been found in the Old Hall.

    A second exhibition on the first floor explores the change of taste in architecture and building methods during the Elizabethan age.

    If you are looking to use one of our sites for commercial, corporate or professional photography or as a filming location, please contact our filming team as soon as possible to check availability and acquire the relevant permissions and paperwork.

    Due to the delicate nature of our sites, English Heritage does not permit drone flying from or over sites in our care, except by contractors or partners undertaking flights for a specific purpose, who satisfy stringent CAA criteria, have the correct insurances and permissions, and are operating under controlled conditions.
