    Free for English Heritage members displaying a valid car sticker. Non-members must pay. An overflow car park in the hamlet (donation requested) is available on selected days in summer.

    There’s a cafe at nearby Rievaulx Abbey serving hot and cold drinks and a selection of high-quality food.

    You are welcome to bring a picnic to eat in the grounds. There is plenty of grass on which to lay out your picnic blanket and admire the views. Alternatively, picnic tables in the woodlands offer some shade.

    There is an exhibition at Rievaulx Terraces and a small museum nearby at Rievaulx Abbey.

    The exhibition at Rievaulx Terraces is situated underneath the Ionic Temple a short walk from the entrance. It tells the story and history of how the terraces were created and the history behind them.

    The terraces are a landscaped grassed area providing a leisurely walk with beautiful views. Behind these is a woodland walk allowing for a charming circular walk through the trees.

    Push chairs are allowed although visitors should be aware that the site is predominantly grass with a woodchip path through the woodland.

    If you are looking to use one of our sites for commercial, corporate or professional photography or as a filming location, please email our filming team as soon as possible to check availability and acquire the relevant permissions and paperwork.

    Due to the delicate nature of our sites, English Heritage does not permit drone flying from or over sites in our care, except by contractors or partners undertaking flights for a specific purpose, who satisfy stringent CAA criteria, have the correct insurances and permissions, and are operating under controlled conditions.
