The abbey is set in a valley landscaped by 'Capability' Brown in the 18th century. It is a Site of Special Scientific Interest: there is plenty of wildlife and four waterfalls. A stream runs through the site. We are very popular with walkers and passers by as there is a public footpath with runs alongside and round the abbey. Please ask staff for leaflet, (Rotherham Council 'Doorstep walk No.2') which describes a detailed walk - takes about 2 hours to complete.
