Inspiring the Future

A world-famous monument deserves a world-class education experience.

Stonehenge has taught us a lot. Not just about the people who built it, but about how science, technology, engineering and maths were used to construct it.

To inspire the next generation of learners, we’re creating an outstanding learning programme that encapsulates the past and shines light on the future.

With a new, authentic Neolithic Hall and modern Learning Centre, learners will experience and explore the Neolithic period like never before.

Building our learning offer

As well as developing a new, expert-led learning programme for all key stages that combines the study of history and STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering and maths), we're building two new facilities to give learners immersive and unforgettable experiences they'll not get anywhere else.

Pupils will step into the past in our new Neolithic Hall, built using methods of the Neolithic period and offering a truly immersive experience of life 5,000 years ago.

In contrast, our new Learning Centre, with dedicated Discovery Lab and flexible learning studio is where pupils will get hands-on with real-world applications, fostering their problem solving, critical thinking and collaboration skills.

Together, these outstanding inclusive and accessible facilities are where learners will bring prehistoric life to the present in an extraordinary way.

Kusuma Neolithic Hall

What better way to transport pupils 5,000 years back in time and immerse them in the Neolithic period, than by stepping into our atmospheric Neolithic Hall and getting hands-on with activities from the past.

Our Kusuma Neolithic Hall will be built using traditional methods and materials and will be large enough for a whole class, where they'll be able to enjoy our updated award winning expert-led Discovery Visit sessions focusing on the Neolithic period, as well as new workshops, combining prehistory and STEM learning for key stages  1-3.

Learning Centre

Our modern and sustainable Learning Centre, including the Clore Discovery Lab, Weston Learning Studio, digital production studio, The Wolfson Foyer and an open-air courtyard to support sensory learning, will provide specialist facilities for pupils to explore, experiment and learn.

Studying Stonehenge can pave the way for a new generation of engineers, scientists and mathematicians to continue its awe-inspiring legacy.

By learning from the past, we can help shape the future. Discover how ‘prehistoric engineers’ raised the stones; explore the relationship between the sun and Stonehenge and understand the role archaeology plays in comprehending the significance of this important monument.

  • Learning Centre

A new dedicated Learning Centre will transform our ability to deliver best-in-class educational experiences for students. It will be home to inclusive, accessible and sustainable spaces including a Clore Discovery Lab, Weston Learning Studio, Digital Production Studio and the Wolfson Foyer.

  • Clore Discovery Lab

Our Learning Centre will feature the Clore Discovery Lab where learners can be hands-on uncovering the secrets of Stonehenge, as part of a new STEM in heritage programme.

STEM at Stonehenge

Stonehenge is an engineering marvel, and a powerful testament to human ingenuity, imagination and creativity.

Constructing the monument demonstrates a remarkable feat of engineering design, using science skills to select the materials, technology and engineering to move, lift and raise the stones and mathematical skills to position the structure.

Today, Stonehenge gives pupils the chance to engage with science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) education in a dynamic and innovative way, and makes STEM subjects accessible to all.

Our new expert-led sessions, based in our state of the art Learning Centre, will provide pupils with hands-on activities to spark their imaginations and bring history and STEM to life.
