Butler's Pantry Tour at Audley End

DATE

Thu 28 May 2026

TIME

12.30 - 1.30pm and 2 - 3pm

LOCATION

Audley End House and Gardens

SUITABLE FOR

Everyone

Explore part of the house not otherwise open to the public, and learn the personal and professional secrets of William Lincoln, butler to Charles 5th Lord Braybrook in the late 1800s

You will see the tools of his trade, and the family silver collection in his care. You will discover more about his responsibilities for the comfort and safety of the Braybrook family, and his role in setting standards for the servants under his command. But did William himself live up to those standards? Hear the evidence and decide for yourself!

This event is graded as moderate access, as the tour involves some walking and may include some stairs or uneven terrain. Part of this tour takes place outside, so please wear suitable footwear and dress appropriately for the weather.
