Book an interactive Discovery Visit workshop and let your pupils delve deeper into the history of Gainsborough Old Hall. This session has been designed to provide fun and inspiring education activites for your pupils, which will support your teaching of the curriculum and their learning back in the classroom.

Prepare for a Feast: The King is Coming

You’re invited to a banquet for Henry VIII! Through costume and role play, pupils will discover the people who lived and worked at Gainsborough Old Hall. Explore the kitchen and take part in hands-on activities to prepare a feast fit for the king. Enter the Great Hall and learn about Tudor etiquette – remember not to pick your teeth or make rude noises! Take on the role of the guards to keep the king safe, as well as jesters and musicians to entertain him, and let your pupils experience a Tudor household and Henry VIII’s court.

  • Availability: April to November, Monday, Wednesday and Friday during term time, January to March: Monday, Wednesday and Friday during term time
