Come and see how our vital £1m repair programme has enhanced Orford Castle’s unique polygonal tower-keep.

Orford Castle was built using a local mudstone, which has been crumbling for centuries. After more than 13 years of research, Orford Castle is now protected by a breathable coating of yellow-ochre lime render, preserving it for future generations.

From the basement to the top of the tower, explore the keep and wander through the castle's chambers, chapel and kitchen. Discover its history with hands-on features and multimedia guides. Look out for the model which shows how Orford Castle appeared when it was first built. From the roof, you can enjoy magnificent views of Orford Ness and the sea.

Find out about the mysterious ‘Wild Man of Orford’ and take in the Orford Museum Trust’s exhibition in the upper hall, which features changing displays of local finds.
