St Augustine's Abbey

Group Visits to St Augustine's Abbey

We are now open to bookings from the Travel Trade at St Augustine's Abbey. Pre-booking is now essential to limit visitor numbers and ensure effective social distancing. Please don't travel to our sites unless you have pre-booked as we won't be able to let you in without your booking confirmation.

Booking Information

We provide great value with a 15% discount for groups of 11 or more visitors paying together. We also offer free entry for coach drivers and tour leaders.

There is no limit on the maximum group size. Please note that all groups must separate in to their household/support bubble or party of 6 on arrival and for the duration of their visit. Social distancing rules apply to anyone not in your household/support bubble.

Average length of visit - 1 1/2 hrs

To book your visit email us at: bookings@english-heritage.org.uk with the following information:

  • Name of property
  • Date of visit
  • Time of visit
  • Group name
  • Number of visitors
  • Number of leaders/drivers
  • Method of transport

Please include the name of the property and date of visit in the subject line.

BEFORE YOU BOOK

Where the booking is for a guided tour (currently only permitted in external spaces at our properties), there is no limit on the group number. People within that tour will still need to separate into their household/support bubbles or party of 6 and maintain 2m from others who are not in the same household/support bubble.

It is now a legal requirement for all tourism and hospitality businesses to capture the name and number of the ‘lead member’ of each sub-group (of up to 6 people unless from one household / support bubble) within a larger group booking for NHS Test and Trace purposes. Each of our properties will be displaying an NHS Test and Trace QR code, which your customers may also use. Contact details collected from your booking will be used to fulfil our obligation to support NHS Test and Trace. You can find out more about this here.

We’ve introduced new measures for everyone’s safety across all our properties. Although things might be a little different when you visit, you’ll still be able to enjoy exploring where history happened, and you’ll still be given a warm welcome by our friendly staff and volunteers. For information on what may have changed at this property check the property homepage.

COACH PARKING

As there is no parking on site, please drop off outside the abbey and park at the coach park at Kingsmead, Canterbury.

GUIDED TOURS

Please note we currently have limited ability to offer exclusive guided tours at our properties and cannot always guarantee availability at the point of booking. Group-led guiding is permitted in external spaces only at our properties.
