Thanks to our fantastic volunteers we are able to host events at some of our amazing heritage sites, please check here for updates on the latest events.

Join us on site on Saturday 12th September between 11:00 - 15:30pm for a community open day to celebrate Heritage Open Day! 

Guided Tours

We would like to welcome you to join our volunteer-led tours of the beautiful Thornborough Henges.

For tours of the Central and Southern Henge (Henges Tour), please meet at the English Heritage interpretation board at the Central Henge. For tours of the Northern Henge, please meet at the entrance gate to the Northern Henge, where our volunteers will greet you and take you on a guided walk around the site.
 
Tours will take place at 11:00am (unless stated otherwise) on the following dates:

Henges Tour Friday 28th August
Henges Tour Friday 4th September 
Henges Tour Sunday 13th Septmeber
Henges Tour Friday 25th September 
Henges Tour Sunday 27th September 
 
 
 

Heritage Open Day

We are celebrating Heritage Open Days with two guided tours on Saturday 12th September and hosting a Community Open Day. 

Join us at the central henge between 11:00am - 15:30pm and learn about prehistoric life, meet the experts and hear more about Thornborough Henges.

These tours involve a large amount of walking on uneven ground and take place on an open site, so please do wrap up warm.

Please note these tours are weather dependent and may be cancelled at short notice. Visitor and volunteer safety is our priority and thus tours will not go ahead in adverse weather conditions. 

There is no need to pre-book the tours - please look out for our volunteer tour guides who will be wearing English Heritage red or bronze coats. 

 

Site Closures 

Please be aware the Central Henge will be closed between Friday 18th - Sunday 20th September for Mabon. 

Bringing Thornborough Henges to you

In 2026 we are pleased to be launching informal talks or private tours about Thornborough for local community and education groups.

For talks - Our volunteers can come to your group (in person or virtually) and present about our brilliant site.
