SUITABLE FORAdults
Explore Belsay’s evocative spaces through a creative drawing workshop with artist Paul Ring on Tuesday 21 October. Using simple materials, you’ll experiment with line, relief, and 3D studies to create a “constructed drawing” – an abstract artwork that reimagines absence and space.
Using simple materials such as paper, pencils, card, square timber dowels, and washi tape, you’ll experiment with line drawings of an existing space, layering and relief studies, and 3D assembled studies to create your own constructed drawing. These pieces will act as spatial biographies, as abstracted interpretations of place that suggest how rooms and buildings can be read, re-read, and retold in new ways.
This workshop is sutaible for ages 16+. No prior making or drawing experience is needed. All materials will be provided.
By the end of the session, you’ll have produced an expressive, tactile work that captures the unseen qualities of space – its aura, memory, and atmosphere – reminding us that absence in heritage can also spark imagination and creative renewal.
