Playhenge - FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is Playhenge?
Playhenge is an exciting new activity for families taking place at Stonehenge this May half-term in collaboration with our event partner, Woodland Tribe. A session lasts approximately 50 minutes. During this time, real tools and wood will safely be handed over to children and their adults to build a temporary adventure playground of their design.

When can I take part?
Playhenge takes place daily between Friday 17th May and Tuesday 4th June 2024. Timed hourly sessions are bookable between 10am and 4pm each day. Please note: there are no building sessions on Thursday 23rd May and Thursday 30th May.

Do I need to pre-book tickets for this event?
Yes. We highly recommend re-booking to take part in Playhenge as we will limit the number of people in the space at any one time. You can find out how to book on the event page. Please bring your booking confirmation with you on the day.

When should I arrive?
Please arrive at the Playhenge event area 15 minutes ahead of your booked timeslot.

What age is the event suitable for?
This event is suitable for families with children aged 4+. Every child must be accompanied by an adult. One adult can accompany a maximum of three children at this event.

Is the event suitable for visitors with access needs?
Yes. The visitor facilities at Stonehenge have been designed to be as accessible as possible. We can make adjustments for families with access needs to take part in Playhenge.
A carer or companion is welcome to join you - just let us know on arrival at Stonehenge that you have someone with you, or you can book their free place online.

Is the event safe?
Yes. Woodland Tribe have a detailed risk assessment and the team regularly check the built play area structure. Woodland Tribe have been delivering exciting play experiences since 2014 and find that children are very careful and good at making their own assessments based on their capabilities. A trained first aider will be on site throughout the event.

What has Playhenge got to do with Stonehenge?
This activity will challenge children to use their imaginations, think about how to safely design and build structures and work collaboratively for a common purpose. This aligns with what we know about the builders of Stonehenge.
