Saturday 3 October - Sunday 1 November

As autumn brings squirrels out in search of food for the winter, 400 ceramic squirrels will also be making their way through Belsay’s East Quarry Meadow.

Scurry is a large-scale installation by artist Dan Gough, originally created in 2016 in response to the decline of the native red squirrel. Ten years after its first installation at Cheeseburn in Northumberland, the work returns to the North East for a new chapter at Belsay.

Keep your eyes peeled for our furry red friends and their ceramic counterparts as you make your way through the historic gardens. A limited number of individual squirrels will also be available to purchase.
