An 1875 photograph believed to be the earliest family photograph taken at Stonehenge will go on public display for the first time today (12 December) as part of a new exhibition. The photo was sent to English Heritage by the descendants of Isabel, Maud and Robert Routh, who are pictured in a horse and carriage enjoying a day out at the stones. English Heritage is asking for people to get in touch if they know of an earlier family snap at Stonehenge.

Saved From a Skip: Millionaire’s Gold Telephone Returns to Art Deco Mansion
A 1930s gold telephone which belonged to eccentric millionaire Virginia Courtauld has been returned to Eltham Palace after it was saved from a skip in the 1980s, English Heritage announced this Valentine’s Day (14 February). The newly donated gold-hued telephone will go on public display for the first time from tomorrow.

Oldest Stonehenge family photo discovered in collection of rock legend Dr. Brian May
Stonehenge’s oldest family photo has been discovered in the collection of Dr. Brian May, legendary guitarist of rock band Queen, English Heritage announced today (3 August). The image will be on display as part of a collection set to a soundtrack performed by May himself, viewed through a digital stereoscope, loaned to the charity by the Brian May Archive of Stereoscopy.
