The grounds of Pendennis Castle are open. Takeaway catering is available and our shop is open but all indoor areas remain closed, and safety measures are in place to keep everyone safe. You need to book your visit in advance. Please keep in mind the government’s latest advice on travelling. Find out more below.

What you need to know

We've made some changes to help keep you safe, and things might be a little different when you visit. Here's everything you need to know.

  • Do we need to Book?

    Advance booking is now essential. We have introduced limits on visitor numbers to help keep everyone safe, and you won’t be able to visit without your booking confirmation. If you’re a Member, your ticket will be free, but you still need to book in advance. Make sure you've read our ticketing FAQ before you book.

  • What parts of the site are closed?

    All interior spaces at Pendennis Castle are currently closed, including:

    • The Keep
    • Field Train Shed
    • Battery Observation Post 
    • Historic Tunnels and Half Moon Battery
    • Soft Play 
    • Barrack Block Exhibition 

    The shop and toilets are open as usual. 



  • What changes have you made to your facilities?
    • Cafe - The café will be open for takeaway light refreshments.
    • Shop - The shop is open as usual. 
    • Toilets - There is a toilet available on site. Additional hand sanitising stations will be available across the site.
    • Disabled Parking - We encourage passengers with disabilities or reduced mobility to use the drop-off point.

  • Visiting after 16 May
    Pendennis Castle’s interior spaces will open on 17 May, in line with government guidelines.
    The café will be open with indoor and outdoor seating, and we will also offer takeaway. Pendennis Castle’s shop will also be open.
    The castle keep will be open with a one-way system in place. Entrance will be limited to small groups guided by a member of staff.
    Face coverings are required within all of our interior spaces. We have additional Covid-secure measures in place including social distancing, enhanced cleaning and limits on visitor numbers.


  • Keeping you Safe

    We've made a number of changes to help keep you safe. Although things might be a little different when you visit, you’ll still be able to enjoy exploring the places where history really happened. And you’ll still be given a warm and safe welcome by our friendly – if socially distant – staff and volunteers.

    Face coverings must be worn in all indoor areas. We won't be able to provide you with a face covering, so please come prepared so you don't miss out.

Hire Pendennis Castle

In this picturesque coastal Tudor castle, hold your event with against the backdrop of views across a shimmering bay with distant ships passing on the horizon.
