THE LARGEST GATHERING OF PEOPLE DRESSED AS VAMPIRES

In partnership with GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™, we will by marking the 125th anniversary of Bram Stoker's iconic novel by attempting to break the record for the largest gathering of people dressed as vampires!

The official record attempt will take place on the evening of Thursday 26 May and entry to the abbey will be FREE for all in traditional vampire fancy dress. There will also be live local music, a performance of excerpts from Dracula and local food and drink.

Revamping Whitby Abbey

In 2019 we invested almost £1.6 million to transform Whitby Abbey and celebrate the history of this iconic landmark.

Explore 3,000 years of history in the new permanent exhibition with dramatic displays of unique objects and an interactive guide. 

You will also be able to enjoy new improved facilities, making sure you get the most out of your visit.

Top Tip

In Bram Stoker’s novel, Dracula leapt up Whitby’s 199 steps disguised as a huge black dog – you can still reach the abbey by climbing the steps today.
