Dog Bowl and Toileting
Dog bowls are available at the front and back of the shop.
Wheelchair Access
There are ramps leading into the shop and museum. The site is generally flat and accessible by wheelchairs. The bath house does have some restricted access and we recommend bringing a companion recommended. A free wheelchair is available upon request.
Entrance / Set Down
Visitors with access needs can be set down at the shop entrance. From here it is just a short walk to the museum and only 200m to the site.
Disabled Parking
Accessible parking is available.
Stairs
There are historic steps leading down into the enclosures (two steps maximum into most). There are also steps down into the bath house, although there is a hand rail providing added safety and support.
Seating And Restpoints
A number of park benches are dotted around the site.
Pathways Surface And Gradients
The paths around the shop and museum have paved slab surfaces. The path down to the site is a gravel surface. Pathways around the site itself are mowed grass.

Trip Hazard

Slip Hazard
Low level masonry can become slippery when has been raining or if it is icy.
Steep Slope
There is a small incline down to the bath house, as well as other inclines around the ruin enclosures.
Beware Of Traffic
Chesters Roman Fort is an enclosed site, meaning that there is no traffic beyond the car park.
Uneven Ground
The site is mainly mown grass and can be uneven in places. There are also tree roots that present an additional hazard on the path to the Bridge Abutement viewing platform.
