English Heritage is working with the Berwick Barracks Heritage Trust (BBHT), The King’s Own Scottish Borderers (KOSB), Maltings (Berwick) Trust and Northumberland County Council to transform Berwick Barracks into a thriving cultural hub.

The site is currently home to the Maltings Cinema at Berwick Barracks, Artist Studios, the Maltings' offices and The King's Own Scottish Borderer's offices and archive.

The Storehouse at the Barracks will be open on occasional afternoons to coincide with when the cinema is running. Please check The Living Barracks page on Facebook for more details.

The King’s Own Scottish Borderers' Museum is closed during the project. Visits to the Headquarters of the KOSB are by appointment only, please visit the KOSB website to make an appointment.

We are looking forward to the Barracks fully reopening in 2028.

The Main Guard Museum

While the barracks may be closed the Main Guard Museum is open daily (except Wednesdays and Thursday) 12pm–4pm. The Main Guard Museum is operated by the Berwick Civic Society Trust and entry is free (although donations are gratefully received). The museum can be found a short walk away from the Barracks on Palace Street, Berwick-upon-Tweed, TD15 1HN (what3words: ///gently.shuts.crib).
