Access at Dartmouth Castle

Access information for the site is listed below. For more information, or if you have particular access needs, please contact us before you visit. Please note that some facilities may require booking in advance. 

Advanced booking

Book your ticket to Dartmouth Castle online in advance and save at least 10%. You can book your tickets online until 8.45am on the day you want to visit for the price detailed below. You can still buy your ticket when you arrive but you won’t get the discount.

After booking your day ticket, you can arrive at any time within our opening hours and stay for as long as you like.

Some of our sites can get very busy, especially on bank holidays. The quietest times to visit are before 11am and after 2pm.

Your booking is only for entry to your chosen site or event, and at some sites you may need to pay for parking – check the facilities webpage of the property for more information.

Tickets are free for Members, but you can still choose to book if you’d like. Please remember to bring your English Heritage membership card with you. If you’ve lost it or forgotten it, call Customer Services on 0370 333 1181 (Monday to Saturday).

Wheelchair Access
Access is very restricted for wheelchair users due to the many slopes, spiral staircases and steps on the site. A companion is recommended. Access for wheelchair users to the castle is through areas outside English Heritage’s control.

There is one disable space located in the nearby Pay and Display car park. This car park is not managed by English Heritage.

Ground floors have many steps; a helper is recommended. Narrow, steep spiral staircases to upper floors in gun tower. Shop accessed via four steps – assistance advised.
