Charged parking in main village car park (not managed by English Heritage) a 5-minute walk from Peveril Castle.
Cold drinks and ice creams are available from the visitor centre. There are no food and drink facilities up at the castle.
Picnic tables and chairs are available just outside the visitor centre. There are also benches on the route up the hill as well as in the castle grounds.
The gift shop on the bottom floor of the visitor centre sells a range of English Heritage souvenirs and gifts, including books, soft toys, jewellery,wines, confectionary and dressing up clothes. There’s also a secondhand bookshop at Peveril Castle.
There is one unisex toilet / disabled toilet (including baby-changing facilities) in the visitor centre. There are no toilet facilities up at the castle.
Dogs on leads are welcome at Peveril Castle.
There is a permanent display charting the history of the castle and showing artefacts on the upper floor of the visitor centre. Disabled visitors can access this via a lift.
There is one unisex toilet /disabled toilet (including baby changing facilities) located in the visitor centre. Visitors should be aware that once they have climbed up to the castle site there are no toilet facilities available.
Please leave your push chairs in or outside (space permitting) the visitor welcome area, before climbing to the castle.
Smoking, vaping, barbecues and naked flames are not permitted.
English Heritage welcomes amateur photographers to our sites and we hope you will share your pictures of your visit with us on social media.
If you are looking to use one of our sites for commercial, corporate or professional photography or as a filming location, please contact our filming team as soon as possible to check availability and acquire the relevant permissions and paperwork.
Due to the delicate nature of our sites, English Heritage does not permit drone flying from or over sites in our care, except by contractors or partners undertaking flights for a specific purpose, who satisfy stringent CAA criteria, have the correct insurances and permissions, and are operating under controlled conditions.
Please note: A handrail covers part of the slope leading up to the castle, although the majority of the walk does not have one.
Sheep graze on the site in summer months, although they do not venture into the castle itself.
