Whitby Abbey's Best Dressed Vampire Competition 26 May 2022: Terms and Conditions

These terms and conditions apply to the Whitby Abbey Best Dressed Vampire competition in partnership with W Hamond The Original Whitby Jet Shop, running on the official English Heritage Whitby Abbey Facebook page from 18:00 BST on 26 May 2022 until 23:59 BST on 30 May 2022.

How to enter:

  1. Share your favourite photo of you dressed up as a vampire at Whitby Abbey’s event: The ‘Largest Gathering of People Dressed as Vampires’ GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ attempt at Whitby Abbey on 26 May 2022 on Whitby Abbey’s Facebook page using the hashtag #Dracula125.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

  1. The Promoter is: The English Heritage Trust, incorporated and registered in England and Wales with company number 7447221 and charity number 1140351 whose registered office is at The Engine House, Fire Fly Avenue, Swindon, SN2 2EH (‘English Heritage’)
  2. These terms and conditions apply to the Whitby Abbey Best Dressed Vampire competition, running on the official English Heritage Whitby Abbey Facebook account (facebook.com/whitbyabbey) from 18:00 BST on 26 May 2022 until 23:59 BST on 30 May 2022.
  3. Entries must be received 18:00 BST on 26 May 2022 until 23:59 BST on 30 May 2022 to be eligible for entry into the Competition. Entry to the Competition is restricted to residents of the United Kingdom. Only one entry shall be accepted per person. If an entrant is under the age of 18 years, they must have the permission of their parent or legal guardian to enter the Competition. Employees or contractors of English Heritage, any person directly or indirectly involved in English Heritage or the running of the Competition, or their direct family members are ineligible to participate in the Competition.

  1. Entries submitted in any other way, including by email or hard copy, will not be accepted.
  2. Obscene or inappropriate entries will not be accepted and English Heritage reserves the right to reject any entries for any reason at its sole discretion.
  3. All entries must be the sole work of the entrant. It is the responsibility of each entrant to ensure that any images submitted do not infringe on the copyright of any third parties, and to indemnify English Heritage against any claims made by third parties in the event of such an infringement.
  4. It is the responsibility of each entrant to ensure that any images submitted have been taken with the consent of anyone who is identifiable in that image or the consent of their parent/guardian if they are under 18 years and that they have been advised of the purpose of the submission and that their photograph may be published by English Heritage.
  5. There is no entry fee and no purchase necessary to enter this Competition.
  6. By entering this Competition, entrants consent to English Heritage using, reposting, repurposing or sharing the entry across their website, print and social media for Marketing purposes in perpetuity. By entering this Competition, the overall winners and runners up consent to their entry, name and Instagram handle (if applicable) being used by English Heritage and shared on English Heritage’s website, print and social media and any other media. The winning entrant may be asked to participate in further reasonable publicity arising from this Competition. The parents or legal guardians of any winning entrants under the age of 18 years must complete a Consent Form consenting to the use of the entrant’s entry, name, and Instagram handle (if applicable) for publicity purposes on English Heritage’s website, print and social media and any other media and agree to accompany the entrant to any publicity events related to the Competition. No responsibility shall be accepted for entries not received for whatever reason.
  7. English Heritage Whitby Abbey will select two winners from all eligible entries received. The winners will each receive a piece of Dracula jewellery from Whitby Jet Jeweller W Hamond and an £80 voucher for Albert’s Eatery, Whitby, YO22 4DE. English Heritage Whitby Abbey will contact each winner via Facebook to arrange collection of their prize. The prize MUST be collected from Whitby Abbey, YO22 4JT. If a winner cannot be contacted or does not claim their prize within 48 hours of notification, we reserve the right to withdraw the prize from that winner and pick a replacement winner.
  8. English Heritage’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into. Prizes must be taken as stated and cannot be deferred. There will be no cash alternatives.  English Heritage reserves the right to substitute the prize for one of equal or greater value.  
  9. By entering this Competition, entrants are agreeing that any personal information provided with the entry may be held and used by English Heritage or its agents and suppliers to administer the Competition. All personal data provided to English Heritage will be held and processed in accordance with the requirements of all legislation and regulatory requirements in force from time to time relating to the use of personal data and the privacy of electronic communications, including: (i) the Data Protection Act 2018 and any successor UK legislation; (ii) the UK GDPR; and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (SI 2003/2426) as amended. We will keep your personal data safe and secure. We will not share it with other organisations without your knowledge and consent, unless required by law to do so. We will keep your personal data only for the purposes of communicating with you regarding this competition.
  10. Entry in the Competition signifies acceptance of these rules. English Heritage reserves the right to withhold, change or cancel the prize in the event of non-compliance with these rules. English Heritage reserves the right in its discretion to cancel or amend the Competition, these terms and conditions and/or the prize without notice at any stage.
  11. The Competition and these terms and conditions will be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England.
