Grime's Graves - Prehistoric Flint Mine
SUITABLE FORFamilies
Join Stone Club at Grimes Graves for a fascinating day of talks, tours and hand-on activities as we delve into the history of flint-making. Listen to Time Team’s Phil Harding reminisce about his time excavating at Grime’s Graves, watch flint knapping displays and craft your own kite, plus lots more.
This year, to celebrate the reopening of Grime’s Graves, we have an even bigger line up of incredible activities. Try your hand at Stone Age Crafts, with Memma the Cavewoman and head to the talks tent for a line-up of Arts & Archaeology talks hosted by Stone Club Co-Founder Matthew Shaw, including Time Team’s Phil Harding while he reminisces about his time excavating at Grime’s Graves.
Get out and explore the landscape with our new family trail, where you may stumble upon our resident storyteller, ‘Yarnsmith of Norwich,’ who will be spinning tales all weekend out in the hollows, or join a field trip with Norfolk Wildlife Trust to find out more about the rare plants and animals found at Grime's Graves.
The talks and hands-on activities are free to attend. If you’d like to visit our exhibition space, or venture down into the pits, you’ll need a booking for Grime’s Graves.
