Victorian nursery unveiled at Audley End House
From April, visitors can explore the never-before-seen Victorian nursery in one of England's greatest country houses. A hidden world of privileged children, their nursery maids, governesses and tutors has been re-created by English Heritage from the household accounts, diaries and watercolours. Young and old will be able to experience the rooms as they were originally intended, try on period costumes and play with replica Victorian toys.

Silent Unseen: The Polish Special Forces Soldiers of Audley End
During the Second World War, Audley End House was used as a training base by the Polish Section of the Special Operations Executive. Known as the Cichociemni – the Silent Unseen – these soldiers were elite special-operations paratroopers trained in covert operations, sabotage and intelligence-gathering.

We’re restoring the garden at Wrest Park over the next few years. When Wrest Park came into our care in 2006, several features within the garden had been lost to view or compromised, although many of the garden buildings and some of the original structural planting remained. We are now half-way through an ambitious 20-year plan to reinstate the detail, scale and proportions of the gardens, and reintroduce the most appropriate planting for each character area.
