UNLIMITED ACCESS TO OVER 400 HISTORIC PLACES
Live and breathe the story of England at royal castles, historic gardens, forts & defences, world-famous prehistoric sites and many others.
Our gardens will be open in the evenings for our brand-new Christmas at Walmer light trail. However outside of the light trail, the gardens will be closed until next year. We are also preparing for important conservation work in the castle which means access to some inside spaces is restricted. To reflect these changes, we are reducing admission prices this weekend. To purchase a ticket for the Christmas at Walmer light trail, please see our events page.
Open weekends 10am-3pm

Faced with an alliance between Spain, France and the Pope, Henry VIII commissions a chain of defences from Hull to Milford Haven.
Henry builds castles on the Kent coast, including three at Sandown, Deal and Walmer. More than 1,400 workmen complete building works in 18 months.
