    Answer: The Kensington System

The Kensington System was designed by John Conroy, who was a servant of Victoria's father and was fixated with gaining power and influence.

When Victoria became queen, her first request was to have an hour by herself.

    Answer: 18

Victoria became queen on 20 June 1837, just four weeks after her 18th birthday, following the death of her uncle, William IV.

  • 8. What did Prince Albert build in the woods at Osborne for their children?

    Answer: A Swiss cottage

The cottage was built by Prince Albert between 1853 and 1854 for his nine young children.

The two-storey chalet, which has its own gardens, is where the royal children learnt skills such as cooking, gardening, building and even managing accounts.

The children filled up a room in the cottage with their collections of natural history specimens and antiquities - a separate museum to house their objects was later built nearby.

Victoria was queen from 1837 until her death in 1901 - the total length of her reign was 63 years, seven months and two days.

At the time, this made her the longest-reigning British monarch ever, although the length of her great-great-granddaughter Elizabeth II's reign surpassed Victoria's in September 2015.
